CIRCUIT ALT BERGUEDA

The Alt Berguedà route

One of the geologically most complex parts of the pre-Pyrenees is the area referred to as Alt Berguedà, with the Catllaràs, Pedraforca, Ensija and Peguera mountain ranges. Historically one of the most ancient landscapes in Catalonia, the region is a joy to explore, given the surprising way rocks rise up from the substrate to form unusual landscapes and the remote hamlets and churches to be found in valleys and on rocky outcrops.

Carretera la quar

Discover the Berguedà in comfort

There are many ways to discover the great variety of landscapes and the rich historical and architectural heritage of the Berguedà. We offer you a choice of five routes that combine journeys by car or minibus with easy walks of 1 to 4 hours that take in charming spots in the valleys of the Berguedà along with the most spectacular viewpoints and picnic sites.

pas gosolans

The cadí mountain route

The great barrier reaching to the sky at the source of the Llobregat river is the Serra del Cadí-Moixeró, with peaks over 2,000 metres high. This mountain barrier marks a great contrast between the two sides of the mountain range, protecting the Berguedà from the worst of the Pyrenean winters and ensuring that this region enjoys a Mediterranean climate for the best part of the year.

Culinary holidays

FROM THE WOODS TO THE KITCHEN

Few foods are as attractive as wild mushrooms and Catalans are passionate about them. Sprouting up like magic after the rain, wild mushrooms have to be expertly and carefully hunted down. Our course consists of a mushroom hunting expedition, information on the features of different types of mushrooms and lessons on how to prepare them for the table.

Peguera

The route of the good men - new route -

During the 10th to 12th centuries the peoples living on the two sides of the Pyrenees established close social, economic and cultural ties. These ties led to frequent journeys over the mountains and exchanges between the peoples in each of the territories with the consequent arrival of new ideas. One of the new movements was Catharism, which was gradually adopted by all social classes, from lords down to serfs.

Sagàs

Cycling tours in the Baix Berguedà

The undulating lands of the Baix Berguedà, sheltered by the Pyrenees and split into two by the valley of the Llobregat river, combine woods interspersed with open fields. Scattered throughout these lands are numerous small villages that have grown up around the Romanesque churches that are the last vestiges of a rich history. Forming part of the Central Catalan Depression, this territory is both sheltered and tranquil.
